What is Premium Processing?

The optional $1410 premium processing service fee guarantees that USCIS California Service Center will adjudicate the case (with a petition approval, denial, or request for further evidence) in 15 calendar days or refund the Premium Processing Service fee.

PPS is recommended if the hiring department is seeking a specific H-1B employment start date. Or if an extension or change of employer situation in which the employee needs an H-1B approval notice to renew his/her driver's license, to apply for a new H-1B visa, or re-enter the U.S. after a brief trip abroad. The employer is required to pay for the expedited service if a business necessity otherwise the employee may for PPS if for personal gain or benefit.
