The Student and Visitor Exchange Program (SEVP) ended its COVID-19 guidance on May 11, 2023, following the end of the Public Health Emergency. The guidance allowed active F-1 students to take online and hybrid courses during the pandemic in excess of normal regulatory limits.

With the end of the COVID-19 accommodations, F-1 students are limited to counting no more than one online course or three credits associated with an online course per quarter toward the full course of study requirement [8 CFR 214.2(f)(6)(i)(G)]. Students will be allowed to complete the 2022-23 Academic Year using the COVID-10 accommodations to count more than one course or three credits toward the full course of study only through the summer quarter.
