    International Coffee Hour

    10–11 a.m.

    Cafe Iveta, Graduate Student Commons

    Join the Division of Global Engagement and fellow international Banana Slugs for a cup of coffee. Drop in for a chat, and stay for as little or as long as you like. Free coffee while supplies last!

    International Coffee Hour is a monthly program that brings UC Santa Cruz students, faculty, and staff together over coffee. Coffee hour is held in Cafe Iveta on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m.

    Join Global Engagement for $1.50 rides at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk for fun and friendship! Meet Global Leaders at the Porter/Kresge bus stop at 4:50 p.m., and ride down together. Bring your own cash to enjoy carnival food and fun rides.

    Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk

    Come join us for a fun summer tradition of movies on the beach at Santa Cruz. Meet the Global Leaders at the Porter/Kresge bus stop at 8 p.m., and head down to the beach to see the Book of Life starting at 9 p.m. Be sure to dress warm and bring a blanket.

    Roaring Camp Railroad

    Come and join us for a fun and historical Santa Cruz experience! Meet Global Leaders at the Crown/Merrill bus stop at 11 a.m. and take the #10 bus down. Or meet us at the Boardwalk at 11:45 a.m. for the 12:15 p.m. train. Cost is $10 per person.

    Wine Tasting

    This event is for students and scholars 21 and over only!

    We'll meet at Family Student Housing bus stop at 1:30 p.m. and head down to local Santa Cruz wine tasting rooms. Please remember to bring your ID and money for tasting fees.

  • Kayaking in the ocean

    Kayak Day Trip

    Date, time and location TBD, August

    Join us for a fun kayak excursion out in the bay! Specially trained guides will help you learn about the wildlife that lives nearby, and lead you over to the Santa Cruz lighthouse. The trip is 2.5 hours long and easy for beginners! This trip is $20 per person. Equipment is included.

Come meet and mingle with fellow international researchers and students before the start of the academic year. Refreshments will be provided, but we also highly encourage you to bring a dish to share with your new friends as well.
